Mannn, the holiday season is coming up sooooooooooooo (emphasis on the ‘so’) quickly. Like literally this time last year, I had two babies in my belly and was eating enough for 7. I was beyond ready for Thanksgiving dinner.
But, even though I’m always super happy for all the holiday cheer, a little bitty part in me gets bummed around this time of year.
With all the added stress, and fuss, late night gift wrapping and early morning shopping trips, it takes a tole on my Lupifulled body. Yes, Lupifulled is a word. (Full of Lupus, duh.)
It can just be too much at times. Hence my trip to the hospital last year… But, that’s a whole ‘nother story.
So! In my effort to NOT go to the hospital again and have an ‘as controlled as possible’ holiday season, I came up with these tippies for me to remember. And hey! They might do some good for you too!
MY GUIDE TO: SURVIVING THE HOLIDAYS WITH LUPUS
x wear sunscreen. (even though there’s no sun, the snow reflects alot!)
x rest. as much as possible. (easier said than done.)
x stock up on prescriptions. (I mean, who wants to run to Walgreens on Christmas morning for more Prednisone?! Not this girl.)
x get in to see the doc early. (schedule your check ups as early as possible. remember this is a time of cheer! no health warnings allowed.)
x stay awayyy from the egg nog. (alcohol is no bueno for the lupe.)
Wouldn’t it just be nice to not have to worry about this stuff?!
Well, the S.L.E. Lupus Foundation is wayyy ahead of you! Coming up on November 24, they will be hosting their Life Without Lupus Gala in the beautiful New York City!
Hosted by Today Show co-host, Willie Geist, this year’s Gala “celebrates the breakthroughs in lupus research that are transforming patients’ lives and bringing us closer to a cure.” When I found out about this event (and was contacted by S.L.E.) I just knew I had to share the news with my closest friends!!
Oh! And, I forgot to mention that at the Gala, they will be raising a ton of money to go towards finding a cure for Lupus. And just for coming, you’ll be able to hear the legendary TONY BENNETT!!! Yes! He will be performing!
Man, how jealous am I that I won’t be able to go!?!
But, if you’re in the area, or would like to donate to the cause, here’s alllll the deets you need! With Love, M&W.

Happy Monday my good people! I have a special treat for you all today! It’s something that I’ve been excited about for a very LONG time!
If you’ve kept up with my past few posts, then you know I’m gung-ho for all things community when it comes to blogging. I’ve connected with so many great people and bloggers because of M&W. But, when I started this blog, I definitely was not expecting to become involved with a huge cyber support system for all my fellow Lupus warriors!
But, that’s exactly what happened and I couldn’t be more thrilled!
The SLE Foundation is one of the many organizations that I have looked towards for advances in research and continuing my hopes for a cure to Lupus. (You can find out more about Lupus HERE, and read my crazy lil’ Lupus testimony HERE.)
When I stumbled across The Lupus Loop, I was so eager to connect with my girl Allie, the SLE volunteer blogger behind TLL. On her blog, she shares posts about all things Lupus, her firsthand experiences, and tips for us all to live well with Lupus. But what I love most about her blog is her sense of community. She’s so inviting and excited to meet others with Lupus. Read more
Things are finally starting to get back to normal around here. And I’m so happy for that. All this moving has had me stressed! But, you have no idea how much of a relief it is to be blogging again!
Today, I’m actually sharing a post on my pal Raewyn’s blog, Be a Warrior Queen!! I’m super stoked about this!
I actually found Raewyn’s blog because she included me (yes, me!) in her blog roladex and she mentioned me as one of her faves! I was honored to say the least! So, needless to say, I was flabbergasted (< — haha such a funny word!) when I got the chance to write for her blog!
Here’s a little sneakity sneak sneak of my post…
Hey there, sexy! I missed you! Did you miss me?
I haven’t posted in less than a week, but it feels like years!
In case you were wondering…
Our move is going well, even though we haven’t moved yet.
We actually move this weekend. So, I’ll be MIA for just a little bit longer.
But, I have great news!
Remember this post? Raising Healthy Kids in a Not-So-Healthy World.
Well, I’m returning the favor and
guest posting on Serena’s (my guest author) blog!
Here’s a snippet of my post…
Happy Monday, my friends! How was your weekend?
This weekend, I got to spend time with one of my best friends. I love catching up with old pals, as well as making new friends!
Today, I would like to introduce you to a new friend of mine — Serena from Simple Holistic Girl! She is here to share with you her 5 Keys to Raising Healthy Kids In a Not-So-Healthy World. So definitely stick around a minute or two, read her post, and show her some blog lovin’. Pun intended.
So, when I do try to be healthier, I tend to make little changes in my life. So for now, I’m drinking only water.
Mostly water. I have to have at least 1 glass of juice to satisfy my sweet tooth.
