A MOM’S SURVIVAL GUIDE FOR THE HOLIDAYS.

long distance family

I love the holiday season, and with Halloween over, it’s about that time to cue the Christmas music!!

Yeah, I know it’s a little early, but I can’t help it! I just LOVE Christmas time.

I promise you, if I could be an elf, I would.

But, every year, as happy as I am that it’s time for booze holiday cheer, I get a little sad. My family lives soooo far away, we barely ever get see each other. Pretty depressing huh?

My grandparents, aka Gigi and Grandpa, haven’t even met the girls yet. (The picture is actually the girls’ great granddaddy on Big J’s side.) Speaking of Big J, they haven’t met him either. Major fail on my end. But, that’s just why I made this survival guide.

When you live away from family, you got to be prepared.

MAMA MUST HAVES:
x Camera [to take lots of pictures, of course]
x Photos [of them, silly!]
x Stationary [send cute little notes, just because]
x Cell phone [use the Southwest app and Groupon to check the best deals + use flier miles]
x Ipad/Laptop [use Facetime//Skype to visit them while you’re chillin’ on your couch]]
x Calendar [countdown the days!]

Out of sight, out of mind? Not the case here. The more you see them, contact them, show that you love them, the merrier.

Do you live far from your loved ones? What do you miss most about not being with them?

P.S. I have a confession. I’m the worst at sending cards. I definitely included stationary as a reminder to myself. Gotta do better! Kisses. With Love, M&W.

This is so hard to do, raise your kids without your family close. I am in the same situation and skype has become my best friend. And social media, my family cane stay up to date on our life without really long phone calls. Thank you for sharing at Pin worthy Wednesday, it has been pinned!
